Code of Conduct
REMEMBER THE GOLDEN RULE
The
relationship between RV guests and Hosts is founded on courtesy and
common sense. Please remember that these are farms not
campgrounds and respect the professional work and privacy of those who
are hosting you. You are visiting by invitation and it would
be appropriate to show your appreciation by making a purchase to
support your Hosts.
Here are some simple guidelines that RV
members of Harvest Hosts agree to for all visits. Out of
respect for your Hosts:
- On arrival at the site, introduce yourself
and show the Host your
membership card and vehicle badge for the current year as Hosts only allow current members of Harvest Hosts to park overnight
on their property.
- Support your Hosts and visit their
markets and tasting rooms; we're confident you'll find
something that you'll want to purchase.
- Hosts ask that you
always call at least 24 hrs. ahead to
arrange for your visit. If your plans change, please
notify your Host.
- Arrive during business
hours and be aware that some sites have gates that will be closed after
hours.
- To avoid inconveniencing the work of your host, please park
only in the areas indicated by them. Parking areas may not
always be 100% level.
- Use any available facilities with moderation (toilets etc.)
and only if invited to. Please take all trash with you.
- Before arriving, ensure that your batteries are
charged, your fresh water tank is full and all waste tanks are empty.
Do not empty your gray water on your Host's property.
- Never light fires and ask before using BBQs.
- Ask before opening awnings and slides so
that the Host can park you in an appropriate place.
- Remember these sites are working
vineyards or farms. Please take
care and if you have small children, supervise
them at all times.
-
Farm dogs may be present. If a pet
is accompanying you, please check with your Host before letting
them out. Pets are allowed only in parking areas and must
be leashed. Please pick up after your pets.
- Avoid making too much noise (shouting or barking animals…).
- Ask before using your generator.
- No off-premises alcohol is allowed outside of
your RV, per local regulations.
- Out of respect for your Hosts, please use the
Host Directory only during its period of validity (annual
renewal).
- Please keep a low profile. Remember that these sites are not campgrounds
and that we do not want to disturb our Hosts' neighbors.
- Please do not stay longer than 24 hours.
- When departing, thank your Host for your
visit.
VERY IMPORTANT
- As a guest, accept that occasionally a Host
may not be able to receive you for personal reasons. It may be
possible to find an alternative farm or vineyard not far away.
- When calling, tell the Host what size rig
you are driving and ask which entrance you should use and
whether there are any conditions you should be aware of.
Be aware that you may have to unhook your tow-behind.
- Common sense and courtesy are important and
will help the Harvest Hosts program to grow and flourish.
- Please accept any
restrictions that may be imposed as Hosts do not wish to give
the impression of being a campground.
