The Valley of the Sun is winter RV headquarters, and a golfer's paradise, with golf course hosts joining breweries and farms across the valley. Baseball spring training season (late February–March) also packs the area, so request stays early if you're chasing Cactus League games. There's also plenty of local hiking nearby, from iconic Camelback Mountain to Apache Junction and the McDowell Mountain Preserve.

Flagstaff, Williams, and the Route 66 corridor put hosts within striking distance of the Grand Canyon and the state's high country. At 7,000 feet, Flagstaff runs 20+ degrees cooler than Phoenix — heading north is the summer escape valve. Sedona's red rocks sit an easy hour south of Flag, down Oak Creek Canyon.

Saguaro National Park brackets Tucson on both sides, and the surrounding desert holds attraction, distillery, and ranch stays with serious winter appeal. Sabino Canyon and Mt. Lemmon are also top attractions for outdoor enthusiasts, offering incredible hiking and sightseeing. South of town, the Sonoita-Elgin area is Arizona's original wine country, high-desert vineyards at 5,000 feet.

Kingman anchors the longest surviving stretch of old Route 66, with distillery and saloon stays that lean into the nostalgia. Lake Havasu and the Colorado River draw winter crowds, and I-40 continues west toward California or east toward New Mexico.
