4.9 Rating·35,527 Reviews

New York is six RV destinations wearing one name: Finger Lakes wine country, Adirondack wilderness bigger than several national parks combined, Long Island beaches and vineyards, Hudson Valley farm country, Niagara's thunder, and — for the brave — the city itself. New York has 511 Harvest Hosts locations offering overnight stays at u-pick orchards, farm breweries, and vineyards across it all. Member-favorite stops include Rustic U-Pick Orchard & Brew Farm, Rustic Farm Brewery Retreat, and Artisanal Brewery & Bistro Retreat — the state's three most-booked hosts. Attraction stay at Nostalgic Drive-In Theater Retreat

Adam S

This was an amazingly fun overnight adventure that you simply must do. Everything was easy. Communication was great. We got there early and just followed the directions to bypass the ticket booth and just drive right in. There were no chains. We hung out until someone showed up, which was about an hour or an hour and a half before movie time. They gave us great directions on where to park. We bought our ticket. They have a restaurant which has an assortment of burgers, chicken fingers, fries, hot dogs, general movie stuff, popcorn, candy, etc. The parking is very level, and the bathrooms are clean. Most importantly, they kept the bathrooms open all night for us, so they were available in the morning. Very quiet place to spend the evening and a fun movie while we're having our dinner. Simply couldn't recommend it more highly. You got to do it.

We had a great growler to go after tasting the beer. Food cart provided dinner. And we had the place all to ourselves once the brewery closed. Parked on the grass and enjoyed the quiet setting. Perfect.

Perfect spot. Plenty of room in a large grassy area behind the barn. Nice and level. Even a few visits from the deer. Enjoyed the trail path next to the property.

They have plenty of parking area, some of the grass areas looked fairly flat, some had a little bit of a slope. They let us park on the gravel lane because it had been raining and some of the ground was soft. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly. We had the pulled pork sandwich and the smoked meatloaf. Both tasted great and had good sized portions.

Exactly what I needed to park and work for the day. Hiked one of the trails and rode my bike to an Amish farm stand for great veggies and cookies! Had to use my levelers.

A great discovery! Large parking space pretty much levelled; the host greeted us right away upon arrival, and the staff were great. We were lucky enough to have live music from a blues band while we enjoyed our delicious pizza. Loved the whole experience; we will stop again!

New York RV Camping Guide

The Finger Lakes

Eleven glacial lakes lined with more than a hundred wineries make this the East's premier wine-country RV destination — Seneca and Cayuga's shore roads string tasting rooms, waterfall gorges (Watkins Glen leads), and farm stays into effortless days. Riesling is the region's calling card.

Long Island

Long Island offers RV travelers a unique mix of beautiful beaches, charming waterfront villages, world-class wineries, and rich history, all within a short drive of New York City. Visitors can explore iconic destinations like Montauk, Fire Island, the Hamptons, and the North Fork while enjoying fresh seafood, boating, fishing, and scenic coastal drives. With picturesque parks, lighthouses, and countless outdoor activities, Long Island is an ideal destination for RVers looking to experience both relaxation and adventure.

The Adirondacks and North Country

Six million acres of forever-wild park hold Lake Placid's Olympic legacy, High Peaks trailheads, and lake towns built for summer. Farm-brewery stays ring the park's edges; fall color arrives here first, typically late September.

The Hudson Valley and Catskills

Two hours north of the city, the valley runs on farm markets, historic estates, and a food scene that draws chefs out of Manhattan. Orchard and brewery stays here are the classic city-escape weekend — and the smart base for visiting NYC itself (see FAQ).

Western New York and Niagara

Buffalo's wings-and-architecture revival, Rochester's garlic-and-lilac festivals, and Niagara Falls anchor the west, with fun host stops across the region and Ontario across the bridge.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to RV camp in New York?

May through October, with September–October the crown: harvest in the Finger Lakes, peak color rolling south from the Adirondacks, and apples at every farm host. Summer belongs to the lakes and Long Island's vineyards and beaches; winter belongs to rigs with serious insulation.

Can I drive my RV into New York City?

You can, but almost nobody should. NYC-area parkways restrict or prohibit RVs with low overpasses that mean it, several Hudson River tunnels prohibit propane, and street parking is fantasy. The proven play: overnight at a Hudson Valley or New Jersey host and take Metro-North, NJ Transit, or a park-and-ride in. Verify current crossing rules if you must drive.

Is overnight RV parking legal in New York?

Rules vary sharply by municipality and enforcement is real downstate. Harvest Hosts stays end the question: an invited overnight on private property with the host's permission — an orchard row over an outer-borough gamble.

How does RV camping at Harvest Hosts work in New York?

Harvest Hosts is an annual membership that lets RVers stay overnight at 511 New York wineries, farms, breweries, and attractions with no camping fees. Members request stays through the app, arrive in a self-contained RV, and support their hosts with a purchase — a Riesling flight, a bushel you picked yourself, or a farm-brewery dinner.

What's the best Finger Lakes strategy for RVers?

Pick one lake per day — Seneca and Cayuga have the deepest benches — and let a winery or farm host be your fixed point while tasting rooms rotate. Weekends book up in harvest season; midweek gets the winemaker's undivided attention.

Is Harvest Hosts worth it for New York RV trips?

Yes — downstate campgrounds run $60–90/night and Finger Lakes weekends fill fast, so the $99/year Classic membership pays for itself in about two nights. A single wine-country loop typically covers it with stories to spare.
