RV Camping in Prince Edward Island

4.9 Rating·2,344 Reviews

Prince Edward Island is Canada's smallest province but has its most concentrated charm — red-sand beaches, Anne of Green Gables country, and an island food scene (oysters, lobster, potatoes with a capital P) that outperforms places fifty times its size. PEI has 26 Harvest Hosts locations offering overnight RV stays at marina breweries, goat dairies, and oyster markets. Member favorites include Scenic Marina Craft Brewery, Goat Dairy Agritourism Farm, and Coastal Oyster Market Retreat — the island's three most-booked hosts. Members can choose from 5 farm stays and 3 breweries island-wide.

Brewery stay at Harvest Hosts Breweries & Distilleries

Donald S

We find it easy to say that this is our favourite Harvest Host yet! We arrived in the sweltering heat - the staff welcomed us like we were long lost friends and we enjoyed delicious cold beverages and also yummy nachos from the on-site food truck, all while enjoying the gorgeous views surrounding the barns. Then we sat outside our van with our friends, with whom we were travelling, and enjoyed our homemade dinners and great conversation in the evening. The parking area for our vans was flat, shaded in the afternoon sun and relatively quiet - just a little bit of traffic noise for us as we’re lighter sleepers. We used their washrooms in the morning to get ready for a day of travel which was a nice perk. As we were departing, we spoke with another staff member who couldn’t have been kinder to us. Loved everything about our stay and will be back when we’re next on PEI.

Loved this spot. Delicious cider, terrific bartender, and beautiful setting. Sampled the flight of 6 and enjoyed the variety. Plus … a turntable and a crate of records? Stupendous.

Very welcoming host and peaceful environment! Incredible to sleep right next to the highland cows! We bought soap made from their own goat milk as well as souvenirs featuring the adorable cows.

Attraction stay at Retro 1950s Drive-In Experience

We had a great overnight stay at this drive-in. We arrived early before anyone else, so we parked in the middle of the lot. Once the staff arrived, we purchased our tickets and checked to make sure our parking spot was okay. They were very friendly and assured us there was no problem. We enjoyed a quiet evening, watched the premiere of The Odyssey under the stars, and had a comfortable night’s stay. A unique experience that we’d happily recommend to fellow travelers!

The owner greeted us warmly and invited us to visit with the animals and also have coffee on the coffee shop. apparently the cinnamon buns are amazing, but we’re not quite ready when we left. A stop you don’t want to miss when you have young children ,

It was our first HH stay so weren’t sure what to expect. Hosts are very kind and it’s a very relaxed atmosphere. Lucked in to some live music in the barn upstairs! Beautiful views with your morning coffee

The hosts were very responsive and friendly. The salsas, jellies, and pickles they grow and make onsite are delicious and conveniently purchased from their gift shop. Only minutes away from Basin Head, which is the best beach on the island.

Prince Edward Island RV Camping Guide

Charlottetown and Central PEI

The birthplace of Canadian Confederation runs on harbour-front charm and a festival calendar heavy with music and food. With goat-dairy and farm stays minutes from downtown, nothing on PEI is far from anything.

The North Shore

Cavendish's Green Gables heritage, the national park's dune-backed beaches, and Brackley Bay's oyster waters line the Gulf shore. Swimming here is genuinely warm by Canadian standards, and the sunsets over red cliffs are the island's signature view.

Points East and the Marinas

Montague's waterfront marina anchors the quieter east, where lighthouse-tipped points, the famous "singing sands" at Basin Head, and a seafood-first cuisine are just some of the local highlights. The ferry to Nova Scotia departs from Wood Islands nearby.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my RV to Prince Edward Island?

Two ways: the Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick — 12.9 km, the world's longest bridge over ice-covered water, with no overhead tunnels or height restrictions that would block a standard RV — or the seasonal ferry from Nova Scotia. Here's the island's best travel quirk: you only pay tolls on the way off the island, whichever direction you exit. Most RVers bridge on and ferry off to make a loop of it.

When is the best time to RV camp on PEI?

June through September — high summer for beaches and festivals, September for warm Gulf water, lobster suppers without lines, and harvest gold across the fields. Much of the tourist infrastructure winds down by mid-October.

Is PEI worth more than a day trip?

Absolutely, to get the most from the island's slower pace. A host stay or two turns PEI from a checkbox into something extra special: morning oysters, an Anne pilgrimage, an afternoon at the beach followed up with a pint at the marina. At least three days is the sweet spot.

What food shouldn't I miss?

Malpeque oysters at the source, lobster suppers (a church-hall island tradition), new potatoes that explain the license plates, and COWS ice cream for the road. The island's Harvest Hosts locations are essentially a tasting menu with overnight parking — oyster market, goat dairy, breweries.

How does RV camping at Harvest Hosts work on PEI?

Harvest Hosts is an annual membership that lets RVers stay overnight at 26 PEI breweries, farms, and markets with no camping fees. Members request stays through the app, arrive in a self-contained RV, and support their hosts with a purchase — a dozen just-shucked Malpeques, goat cheese for the cooler, or a marina-side beer flight at golden hour.

Is Harvest Hosts worth it for a PEI trip?

Yes. Island campgrounds are usually booked solid through summer, so membership pays for itself in about two nights, and PEI's hosts deliver the province's food story better than any restaurant reservation ever could.
