Free Camping in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is Spanish for “The Meadows”, but meadows are the last thing travelers are thinking of when visiting this city. It’s easy to be overwhelmed with all the entertainment, flashing lights, and gambling opportunities, so some might opt for a hotel to simplify their experience. But when you’re spending big in Las Vegas, it’s helpful to save some money wherever you can. We’ve put together a list of camping spots in the Las Vegas area. To take advantage of some of these with no camping fees, you must not only be a Harvest Hosts member, but also have the upgraded golf membership. Either membership is the equivalent of the cost of two or three nights in a traditional campground, while allowing you to forgo skip the price of airfare and hotels. So grab your lucky rabbit’s foot or four leaf clover and read on for RV camping opportunities in Sin City. Please note that any Harvest Hosts locations do not charge a fee to camp overnight, however you must make a purchase to support them.Las Vegas free camping

Las Vegas National Golf Club

Our first stop sits right in the heart of Las Vegas, and just ten minutes from the strip, making this the closest camping area. The Las Vegas National Golf Club is rich with history. This golf club was the set of the movie “Casino”. It has also housed famous visitors in the past such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop and Sammy Davis Jr. Not to mention, this course has hosted a number of LPGA and PGA events. Tiger Woods himself has even golfed here and came out one under par. Visitors have the opportunity to play this 18-hole championship course and also dine at The Rat Pack Bar and Grill. This Harvest Hosts location has three reservable, pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size. Las Vegas free camping

Lovell Canyon Dispersed Camping Area

Many RVers choose to partake in dispersed camping or boondocking. This involves camping without hookups on land, such as BLM land or US Forest Service areas. Many Harvest Hosts members are already accustomed to foregoing hookups for the night when staying at a Host location, but some RVers can boondock for several weeks. This involves rationing water, and oftentimes requires the use of a generator or solar panels. Lovell Canyon Dispersed is located on BLM land and has a fourteen-day camping limit. The main road is paved and leads to several dirt spots for RVs of almost any size. This camping area is just under forty-five minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. The coordinates are: 36.0609, -115.5599 for those who want to give it a try. Las Vegas free camping

The Revere Golf Club

This 36-hole championship golf course is located just twenty minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. The Revere Golf Club course is beautifully woven through desert canyons, valleys, and the Las Vegas foothills. Golfers can also admire the Las Vegas skyline and mountains while playing. Not feeling up to par? Don’t worry, The Revere Golf Club offers group instructions or a golf academy, guaranteed to improve your swing. After completing a course, head over to Buckman’s Grille to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Harvest Hosts members can reserve one of their four pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size. Hoover Dam Lodge Hotel & Casino

Did you know that many casinos allow overnight parking for RVs? This can be a great solution for areas without Harvest Hosts locations or for those without the capacity for longer boondocking stints. Oftentimes, parking at a casino is similar to parking at a Harvest Hosts location in that you must patronize the business in exchange for the night’s stay. Even if you don’t gamble, many casinos have a restaurant on site. This casino is located just over 30 minutes from the Strip. The paved parking lot for this casino can accommodate RVs of any size. The coordinates are: 36.0103, -114.7825. Las Vegas free camping

Sanders Family Winery

Our last Harvest Hosts spot is located just over an hour outside of Las Vegas, but this one isn't to be missed. Sanders Family Winery was established in 1988 and is home to two vineyards, one of Zinfandel grapes, and the other of Petite Sirah. Visitors are welcomed to go on a wine tour and sample any of their eleven house-made wines. Some favorites of previous Harvest Hosts members are the Serenity, Merlot, and Harmony. Members can reserve one of their two pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size. Las Vegas free camping

Kingman Wash

This is another area of BLM land with a fourteen day camping limit. The main road is a very bumpy gravel road and has many steep areas, so 4x4 is recommended. There are vault toilets at the beginning of the road, and there are camping opportunities right on the bank of Lake Mead. There are also several hiking trails in the nearby recreation area. This camping area is located just under an hour from the Las Vegas Strip. The coordinates for this site are: 36.036, -114.7077.
