Campfire Philly Cheesesteaks: RV Camping Recipe
Whip up campfire Philly Cheesesteaks with a twist: seasoned sirloin, onions, peppers, and mushrooms topped with melted provolone on toasted garlic bread, all drizzled with steak sauce.
Ingredients
· 1 pound top sirloin round steak
· BBQ seasoning of your choice
· 2 onions
· 4 green peppers
· 6 oz fresh mushrooms (optional)
· 1 long loaf bread, or 4 smaller hoagie style loaves
· Butter
· 1 tsp garlic powder
· 1 tsp Italian blend seasoning
· 8 slices provolone cheese
· 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
· salt and pepper to taste
· Montana Max High Wide & Handsome Steak Sauce
Instructions
Slice onion, green peppers, and mushrooms. (if going camping, prep ahead and store in ziplock bag)
Heat oil on a griddle or in a skillet over the campfire.
Season steak with bbq rub of your choice and place on hot griddle. Sear both sides to keep juices intact, then move to lower heat area of griddle to continue cooking.
Once steak has reached desired doneness, thinly slice steak and return to griddle over lower heat to keep warm
With steak off to the side, add onions to griddle and cook for 5 minutes or until they begin to brown. Add butter to griddle as desired to add flavor and help carmelize onions.
Add the peppers and then mushrooms to the onions and continue to cook until veggies are soft and tender.
Spread cooked beef into a thin layer, and lay slices of cheese on top to melt while still on griddle.
Butter the sliced bread and lightly sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasonings
Place open garlic bread on cut side down on grill grates or griddle to toast.
Once bread is lightly toasted (watch so it doesn’t burn) remove from grates and place on plates.
Top bread with layer of cooked sliced beef with the melted cheese on top.
Add cooked veggies on top of beef.
Drizzle with Montana Max’s High Wide & Handsome Steak Sauce
Put the top slice of garlic bread on each sandwich or the one large loaf and serve warm!
