About
Located in Georgetown, California, gateway to the Rubicon Trail. Georgetown is a former gold mining community, located on the Georgetown Divide, between the South and Middle forks of the American River. Property is three acres, including an apple orchard. RV parking is on the gravel driveway. No size restrictions, as there is more than adequate space for the largest 5th wheel and tow vehicle, or the largest class A and toad. Suggested Local Attractions:El Dorado County wineries are a favorite attraction. Hiking trails abound in the Auburn Recreation Area.

HOST
Retired early, doing short 2 - 3 month RV trips throughout the west and southwest, with ultimate goal of touring entire U.S. Details: Both of us are 59 years young, retired at 55. We lived our entire lives in the Vallejo, California area. Upon retirement, we permanently moved to our weekend home in Georgetown, California, in mid-2015. Ed completed a coast to coast bicycle ride across the U.S. in late 2017, from San Diego to Saint Augustine, FL, with a goal to do similar epic bicycle tours every two years, and an RV tour in the alternate years. Looking forward to an Alaska RV Caravan in Summer 2019. Home Town: Home town in youth was Vallejo, CA. We now live in Georgetown, CA, which is not really a destination, or on a route, but we gladly host when we are available. Favorite Boondocking Locations: 03-20-2017 Just completing a two month trip through the southwest, ending with the 57th Escapade of the Escapees. We did not boondock at all, but instead spent much time in Palm Springs, Yuma AZ, Tucson AZ, Roswell NM, Carlsbad NM, and Terquilla TX. Visited the following National Parks: Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Joshua Tree, Saguaro, Carlsbad Caverns, Guadalupe Mountains, and Big Bend. Plan on a three month trip to Alaska in summer 2019. Skills or Expertise to Share: Plenty of wood for a campfire. Ed is an avid bicyclist, in the event any boondockers wish to go for a ride. We have camped and RV'd throughout northern and central California since 1978, and may have some ideas to share.

Parking & Arrival
Access Road Conditions: We easily come and go with our 40 foot 5th wheel. There are no trees, or sharp curves impeding access; however, there is a gate to the property which will require a code to access. If we are home, will will open the gate, and provide the code upon your arrival. If we will be out, we will provide you with the access code. We recommend avoiding CA 193 from Placerville, and instead utilizing CA 49 to Coloma, and Marshal Grade to Garden Valley, then right on Black Oak Mine Road, reconnecting with CA 193. CA 49 and 193 from Auburn is okay, as we utilize this road frequently. Reason for avoiding CA 193 from Placerville is sharp switchback turns, which may not be suitable for longer towed RVs. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: We are on a gated property (two properties combined.) RV parking is available on a gravel driveway, across from the detached garage. Tow vehicle or towed vehicles can park anywhere else. Gate code will be provided upon arrival, or just prior to arrival.
