Why in the world would we name our place Hazmat Ranch??!! The short story - when we bought the place in 2017, it was hazardous to even walk around it. We literally cleaned up a sh*t ton of trash, seriously, when we were cleaning up the property, we hauled off more than 3 roll-offs worth of scrap metal and trash, plus 5 abandoned vehicles. We have remodeled the house from top to bottom, redoing the foundation, taking the walls down to the studs, the floors to the joist, replacing the roof, etc. It took us a few years, but now the name is just honorary, not descriptive. We have a peaceful little sitting where we enjoy birdwatching and playing with our dog, Archie. Hazmat Ranch is located just north of Pittsburg, Kansas. Pittsburg is a small university town offering a variety of shopping, restaurants, bars, and a few parks. We are less than an hours drive to Joplin, Missouri and about an hour and 45 minutes from the south side of Kansas City. Please be aware that we have a 90 pound Labrador (Archie) that is free to roam within his fence. Site 1 is located within his fence so if you don't like dogs or if you have your own pets, you may want to consider site #2 by the barn. If you park north and south on site 2, you will be outside of his fence boundary. We also have a horse that came with the property when we bought it. Along with all the abandoned trash and cars, the previous owners also left this poor horse to fend for herself for 11 years! Rocky (the horse) is skittish, please do not go into the pasture without permission and do not approach the horse. Please supervise children and pets at all time. Clean up pet waste. Feel free to pet Archie, but please do not feed him without permission. No smoking or littering on the property. Please conduct yourself in a civilized manner, no rude behavior, no derogatory words, no excessive alcohol, etc. Keep things nice and peaceful. Also, please do not encourage the husband, he does enough stupid sh*t on his own.
