About
Welcome to Gray Farm! Nestled in the foothills of western Maine, Gray Farm is a working maple syrup farm located in the small rural town of Denmark. Surrounded by 400 acres of rolling fields and woodlands, the farm offers Harvest Hosts guests a peaceful retreat in the heart of rural New England. Our pure Maine maple syrup is handcrafted right here on the farm using a traditional wood-fired evaporator in our sugarhouse. We take pride in producing small batches of syrup using time-honored methods, and our maple syrup is available for guests to purchase. Located about half a mile off the paved road, Gray Farm offers a quiet, secluded setting with plenty of room to relax, watch wildlife, and enjoy the outdoors. Guests are welcome to explore our woodland trails on foot or snowshoes, except during hunting season (September 1–December 15), when wooded trails are closed for safety. Our open fields and farm roads remain available for walking year-round. Gray Farm's history reaches back more than 200 years. In 1810, Daniel Gray, an early settler of Denmark and later a veteran of the War of 1812, purchased 100 acres here and established his family homestead. Old stone walls throughout the property remain as reminders of those early farming days. Across the road lies the small Gray family cemetery, shaded by towering maple trees, where Daniel and seven family members rest. Their story, and the challenges of life on Maine's early frontier, are told in "In the Shade of the Maples", a book written by the farm's present owner and available for purchase. While pleasantly secluded, Gray Farm is conveniently located near many regional attractions. We are approximately 40 minutes east of North Conway and the Mount Washington Valley in New Hampshire, and just five miles from Pleasant Mountain and beautiful Moose Pond. The surrounding lakes and mountains offer wonderful opportunities for hiking, paddling, fishing, skiing, and sightseeing. We welcome self-contained RVs for stays of up to two nights. Whether exploring western Maine, visiting the White Mountains, or simply seeking a quiet country getaway, we invite you to enjoy the natural beauty, history, and tranquility of Gray Farm. We look forward to welcoming you!
