In 2021 Corporal Keith Heacook with the Delmar Police Dept. was senselessly murdered on his last Sunday shift. Keith had accepted a position with a local university so he could put his son through college. The owner of The Groove stumbled upon the scene that morning where not only Keith had been murdered, but an elderly couple had also been violently attacked and were barely alive. Within an hour police from across the region had converged on the scene en masse. Now blocked in the scene with hundreds of first responders, the owner put on social media an awful event had happened and we needed to feef alot of first responders stat. The community showed up in force and as the rain started a make shift buffet area was constructed in a work van. After the shock wore off the owner decided the only tangible thing he could do to unite people was to bring a venue online that spreads kindness through “food-music and drink”.
