About
My 2.5-acre property is shielded from neighbors by trees and topography. You can park in a private, fairly flat open well-drained grassed and mowed area that circles and is shaded by a large old apple tree. Landscaping screens the site from my house, which is about 150 feet away. There's an all-weather 20 amp outlet on the side of the garage, accessible with a 100-foot extension cord (which I can furnish). Water is available from a faucet near the house via a very long garden hose (again, I can furnish the hose). I do have wifi, but it does not extend far from the house, so you're welcome to get your device(s) online from my front porch or the back patio. Suggested Local Attractions:I am in a quiet rural town among the Taconic Hills of New York state, 25 miles east of Albany, 20 miles west of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and three miles from the Massachusetts border. "The Berkshires" and "the Hudson Valley" say it all.

Free-spirited freelancer Details: I am remarkably successful at avoiding four-lane (and wider) highways, especially interstates (even when I'm not pulling my trailer), so road trips mean stoplights and stop signs, seeing real towns and talking to real people, driving with the windows down, eating real food, and taking my time. There's always a camping tent in the car, and when the weather is right (especially when the sky is clear and filled with stars), that's where I prefer to sleep. Home Town: If asked where I'm from or where home is, I say, Santa Fe, New Mexico and environs. It's not where I live, but it's where I have spent most of my life,. If asked where I Iive, I say, for now, upstate New York, along the Massachusetts border. It's where I own a home, where I keep my stuff, where I park my trailer, mow the grass, and grow a garden from May to October. I Favorite Boondocking Locations: I travel cross country from upstate NY to Southern California and back each winter, when my favorite (luxury?) boondocking spots are my sister's driveway in New Mexico and my daughter's driveway in California; as well as on the property of friends along the way and of all the wonderful Boondocker's Welcome hosts I've stayed with on my travels. But for more basic boondocking, I like the Bosque del Apache (N.M.); a lovely quiet lake in northeastern Mississippi; Cajun country in southern Louisiana, (as well as all along the Gulf Coast); the coast of California; and anywhere near and along the Mississippi, the Rio Grande, and the Colorado River. Skills or Expertise to Share: I'm extremely handy and can fix lots of things, but not broken hearts.

Access Road Conditions: I live on a paved two-lane county road; my short gravel driveway runs 90 degrees, from the road to the garage, and then runs on right next to the garage and on to a graded mowed-grass drive that leads to the campsite. It's extremely easy to pull my 10-foot Aliner popup to and from the site without any backing up, so I'm sure it will suit somewhat bigger rigs as well.
