ust like the struggling boys we serve, Whetstone Boys Ranch & Therapeutic Boarding School has an interesting backstory. Our trail has brought us from Texas, to Wyoming, to Michigan, to New York, to Colorado, and finally to Missouri, where we finally became, on October 9th of 2011, more than “just a dream.” Sometimes, it’s more about the journey than the destination October 2021, Whetstone Boys Ranch celebrated its 10-year anniversary. In the last 10 years, Whetstone Boys Ranch has served over 100 families. We are a therapeutic Christian school that serves struggling boys and their families. Our purpose centers on the reconciliation of teen boys (ages 12-16) and their families. We treat struggles such as anger, depression, low self-esteem, and trauma with a loving, systems-based approach. At Whetstone, boys live, learn, work and grow as they experience essential individual, group and family therapy, excellent academics, exciting outdoor adventures, and useful hands-on tasks. Through relationships with our staff, our students are sharpened and find success where there was failure, hope where there was fear, and life where there was loss. We would not have made it this far without everyone involved. We will need even more workers, more vision, more prayer, and more money to take us through the decades to come.
