Our 3/4 acre lot is on an arm of the Atlantic Ocean in Roddickton, NL. Overlooking the ocean and the Cloud Mountains, we are located on Chimney Bay on Newfoundland's Great Northern Peninsula. The striking escarpment formation is part of the Long Range Mountains, which serve as the northeastern most extension of the Appalachian Mountain chain. From down at the wharf you can see the section of the mountain range called The Sleeping Giant. The top of our property was finally leveled and gravel/shale was laid down on September 4/26, but please note the lower 2/3rds of our land is fairly wild, and uneven in many spots so take caution when walking down to the ocean and fire pit. Loons and eagles can often be seen swimming or flying around our bay as they hunt for fish. Caplin roll in late June to July which sometimes brings whales and sharks up into our bay. Cod are often plentiful in July & August and Mackerel and squid can often be caught in the bay or down at The Farm during the month of August. The closest and best outfitters in the area are Bough Wiffen Outfitters owned by Norman & Marsha Pilgrim. They are often booked up for September & October but worth reaching out to on Facebook as they sometimes get cancellations and might be able to fit you in if you want to book a moose hunting trip! Please note that we live in Ontario, and Newfoundland is our summer vacation destination.
