About
Perched at 2,100 feet on a mountainside, this property offers some of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the region—so spectacular that guests consistently note photos cannot capture their true beauty. The steep-slope teaching vineyard showcases native, cold-hardy Katuah Muscadine and Katuah Scuppernong grapevines, complemented by heritage fruit trees including apples, peaches, pears, cherries, and plums, as well as Aronia berries, cold-hardy kiwis, and buffalo berries. Wildlife encounters, from wild turkeys to mountain views, add to the peaceful and serene atmosphere that draws visitors back again and again. The farm experience is educational and engaging, with guided tours that showcase the property's unique features including a 10' × 40' underground greenhouse (walapini) where cold-hardy vines are propagated and wintered, a 100-year-old tobacco barn, and resident chickens. Guests have the opportunity to taste seasonal grapes and other farm-grown fruits while learning about vineyard cultivation and heritage farming practices. Farm-made artisan items are available for purchase, offering memorable keepsakes from the visit. Visitors can participate in specialized wine education experiences, including wine etiquette and evaluation classes that deepen appreciation for the property's wine offerings. These interactive sessions are complemented by opportunities to enjoy sunsets over the Blue Ridge Mountains—a backdrop that enhances both the learning experience and the overall visit. The knowledgeable and accommodating hosts create a welcoming environment where guests feel genuinely cared for, with many visitors expressing an eagerness to return and spend more time exploring the property's many offerings.
