About
Level gravel and grass parking area on a quiet residential street in one of Ontario's prettiest towns. Parks, shops, galleries, restaurants are all easy-walking-distance from here. Suggested Local Attractions: A 15-minute walk from your parking spot takes you to any of the following: The Elora Gorge Conservation Area, Tooth of Time Waterfall, The Elora Mill Inn, and a vibrant downtown with many unique shops, restaurants, and galleries. Also within easy walking distance are The Elora Quarry - scenic swimming hole (advance reservations are required), the Elora Cataract Rail Trail, and Grand River Raceway and Casino with slots. A 20-minute drive takes you through Mennonite country to St. Jacobs and Elmira and Ontario's largest outdoor farmer's market.

HOST
Retired couple - we love hiking, cycling, pretty scenery, good weather. Details: We, Randy and Marianne, are retired and try to travel on extended trips as often as we can. We started traveling this way in our late 40's and have learned to travel frugally, we don't need hookups, and often not even a campground - just someplace quiet, level, and safe to park and sleep for the night. If you're willing to offer us a spot on your property when we're passing through your area, we will be very grateful. We host too, so will happily return the favor. On our trips, we usually like to take our time and explore any natural attractions along the way. We love hiking and carry an inflatable two-man kayak with us. We always appreciate advice from locals about nearby scenic places, a great day-hike, a place to launch the kayak, or advice on the best local stops for supplies and fuel. Our class B (Roadtrek) motorhome regularly takes us on magical adventures all across this beautiful continent. We're Canadian but most of our boondocking has been on National Forest and BLM land in the southwestern US. We don't have a generator, slide-outs, or automatic levelers, and have learned to live without an electric hookup (unless the temperatures are extreme). We are social but also self-reliant. We appreciate any local advice but certainly don't expect you to become our tour guide or spend a lot of time with us. The main reason we're on Boondockers Welcome (aside from being the co-founder of the platform with my amazing daughter, Anna :-)) is to add variety to our travels. Meeting local people is as much the reason we travel as seeing the sights. Of course, we also love having friendly, interesting, free places to stay for a night or two on route to our next destination. We don't mind staying in Walmart parking lots but much prefer this and meeting fellow members - wonderful people like you - along the way. Home Town: Elora, Ontario, Canada Favorite Boondocking Locations: Utah - the scenery is just the best and there's so much public land that finding a great scenic spot is never a problem. Skills or Expertise to Share: About us: We have tons of information to share about our own trips and boondocking (outside of the BW platform). About me (Marianne): Before I became a web developer, I worked in hospitality - hotel/restaurant management. I self-published a series of ebooks, and most recently (during the pandemic) returned to an old hobby - painting. About Randy: He knows a little bit about a lot of things - just enough to be dangerous. That's a joke but he really does - ask him anything and he may be able to help you. He does most of our own basic mechanics and might be willing to talk to you about that but won't work on your vehicle (in case he screws it up). He plays guitar (quite well) but shies away from playing in front of people, so don't ask for that either. He's actually far from shy in other respects. In fact, he's extremely sociable. And, as you might guess, he has no clue that I'm posting this about him but, when he finds out, he'll be okay with it.

Parking & Arrival
Access Road Conditions: You may be able to pull through but it will depend on your rig, the time of year, and whether we need access to the parking area for other vehicles. Tall fifth wheels or Class A motorhomes need to beware of a few low-hanging branches in the parking area. They can certainly be avoided. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: If your rig is longer than 25 feet, you may need to disconnect and park your tow vehicle beside the RV or on the street.

House Rules
Please arrive before dark. No generators or music/noise after 10 pm please out of consideration for our neighbors. You'll actually be parked closer to them than to our house (which is far enough away that we can't offer hookups - sorry).
