About
This expansive property spans over 2,200 acres of peaceful pine forest in South Central Oregon and features the world's largest miniature railroad with more than 36 miles of 7.5-gauge track. Guests can explore an outdoor museum through self-guided walking tours, discovering full-size historic train cars they can step inside, intricately detailed miniature villages like Lillyville with dozens of handcrafted buildings, and miles of scenic track winding through the property. The setting offers a unique blend of education and recreation in a serene woodland environment.
Ride-on scale train experiences are available during operating hours, with knowledgeable volunteer engineers who provide informative tours and stops along the routes to share the history and fascinating details of the facility. Many guests highlight the memorable experiences of riding these working miniature trains through the beautiful landscape, while members continue to build and operate their own scale locomotives on the extensive track network. The train rides and self-guided tours are offered on a donation basis.
The campground provides spacious, level sites nestled under mature pines with ample parking for RVs of various sizes, offering a quiet and peaceful overnight experience. Amenities include picnic tables, clean facilities, water access, and designated areas for dogs. The grounds are well-maintained with lovely landscaping, and guests appreciate the opportunity to watch miniature trains operating from their campsites or while relaxing on the property.
The staff, volunteers, and members are consistently praised for their warmth, knowledge, and enthusiasm. Visitors repeatedly mention feeling welcomed and included from arrival, with friendly hosts willing to share information about the trains and hobby. This volunteer-run nonprofit operates through generous donations and creates a special atmosphere where guests of all ages—whether train enthusiasts or newcomers—feel valued and enjoy a memorable stay.
