The Buechel Museum's collection of 2,000+ artifacts from the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota honors the traditions, culture, and history of the Lakota. We are second only to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington in regards to Lakota artifacts. Unfortunately, we are only able to actually display one-third of the collection. The museum is on the Rosebud Reservation. A security guard makes the rounds at night and so things are safe but we understand that some RVers might feel nervous about overnighting with us. Due to a lack of funding, the museum is not regularly staffed. However, when we know a Harvest Host member is arriving, someone from the administrative office (which is where members should park either on the paved or gravel area) will open the museum as well as the unique "purple church," as it's known. 2022 will mark the centennial of the church.
