About
Please note that the TOTAL LENGTH we can accommodate is 25-feet. So we really can't accommodate a tow vehicle and a towed trailer or 5th wheel as the total length will most likely be over 25-ft. If you have a small kayak, bike, or motorcycle trailer you tow with your Van camper we may be able to handle that; just let us know what you have. Parking space on a hard surface driveway. Slideouts or awning will need to extend over the yard and not the driveway to not interfere with access. 15 amp electric from the garage will require extension cord but I have a cord if needed. This 15 amp electric is not able to handle an air conditioner so please consider that if you plan to come in the hot, humid summertime. Unfortunately generator use is not permitted. We have neighbors on either side and we try to keep a "low profile" when we have Boondockers Welcome guests stay. Water also available from outside faucet. We like pets but they must be vaccinated and leashed per local regulations. Suggested Local Attractions:Hampton Roads has lots of history: Yorktown, Fort Monroe, and much more. Nice Air and Space museum in downtown Hampton. Langley Air Force Base closeby so you hear the sound of freedom from the daily F-22 flights. Occasionally an F-22 does a practice airshow routine that you can partly see from the house. It is possible that the calendar shows some availability that is not actually available as we take spontaneous trips sometimes and forget to update the calendar. I apologize in advance if that happens.

Semi-retired NASA aerospace engineer Details: Still work part-time, but trying to not let that interfere with traveling too much. Involved with Disaster Relief ministry (see below). Wife is retired Special Education teacher's assistant. Both of us enjoyed many years leading our church's Special Education ministry. Being able to travel and experience this amazing world makes us realize how blessed we are. With natural disasters occurring more frequently it seems, I would like to encourage all of my Boondockers Welcome friends, especially those that are retired, to get involved with a volunteer organization to help with disaster relief or some other kind of community help. Being mobile and self-sufficient we can be a great help to communities suffering from natural or other disasters. We are involved with our church denomination's disaster relief ministry and have helped in numerous flood disasters over the years. It is best to have some training and credentials to help in a disaster area, but there are ways non-trained volunteers are able to help. Those of us that can afford the RV lifestyle have been blessed and we should give back to help those in need. So check with your church or faith based organization (Samaritans Purse, Operation Blessing, ...), the Red Cross, Team Rubicon (active and non-active military), Habitat for Humanity..... The list goes on and on. And there are great needs for non-construction areas as well: administration, food prep and deliver, child care, go-fers (to go pick up and deliver stuff), etc. There is a job for any skill or even those that feel they have no skills. Don’t get discouraged when you try to volunteer because sometimes the help organizations are not as “organized” as they could or should be. Be understanding and flexible. This isn’t in the Bible but it is good advice: Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape. I apologize if I sound preachy here but there are so many that really need our help and we can help them. I can guarantee that you will be blessed as well; we always have been. https://www.nvoad.org/voad-members/national-members/ https://www.redcross.org/volunteer/b...volunteer.html https://www.habitat.org/impact/our-w...onse/volunteer https://www.namb.net/southern-baptist-disaster-relief/ https://mds.mennonite.net/volunteer-registration-form/ https://teamrubiconusa.org/volunteer/ https://www.samaritanspurse.org/our-...#volunteer-now Home Town: Hampton, VA Favorite Boondocking Locations: Campgrounds in a natural setting are what we prefer. Traveled out west in 2017 and 2019. Hit many National Parks & Sites and all were great: Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, Great Basin, Capitol Reef, Arches, Little Big Horn, Badlands, Pipestone, Great Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Natural Bridges, Canyonlands, Death Valley, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Pinacles... Our travels in the east have been great too: Acadia National Park (ME), White Mountains (NH), Adirondacks (NY), Grayson Highland State Park (with wild ponies, VA) come to mind. Skills or Expertise to Share: I have pretty good mechanic and DIY skills; but not a Pro.
