About
I grew up camping in Mexico and sailing on the Pacific Ocean. Now I'm living my best life on a farm just a stretch down the road from nowhere. I want to share my little piece of paradise and meet fellow travelers. Recently retired from teaching English in a large public high school in Chicago, I wake up every morning feeling grateful that I took a leap of faith 25 years ago and bought an 80-acre farm in southwest Wisconsin. Why? I didn't know, except that I wanted to. My plan? Zero. But over weekends, summers, and holidays...something magic happened. I fell in love with the land. I built a barn and put up fencing. I bought alpacas because my best friend from college told me to. It is a simple joy and meditative practice to care for animals, and their fabulous fleece feeds my knitting and weaving habits. I have 30-some acres in hay, no chemicals on the land, and 50-ish acres of woods populated with an abundance of wildlife. I think I am becoming a farmer. I actually dream about driving my own tractor. Like the saying goes, "make hay while the sun shines."
So, that's just the tip of the iceberg about me. I love my farm and I want to share the love. I'll teach you to knit and/or weave. You can buy yarn. You can feed the alpacas. You can even muck the barn if you are so inclined. My campsite is groomed grass nestled in a copse of woods, up at the high point on the land, overlooking my hay fields. There's a picnic table and a fire pit and a hammock. It's quiet and peaceful and softly stunning. Drop dead gorgeous sunrise and sunset. Birds. Coyotes. Deer. There is no light pollution in the area, so the stars are otherworldly. Bonfire under the stars? Come on! Easy-in, easy-out RV access. I'm close to the Mississippi, the Wisconsin, and the Kickapoo rivers, all offering excellent fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. I'm 20 minutes from a very hip town called Viroqua that boasts a class-act coop, a vintage theater with top flight lineups, art galleries, art festivals, art studio walks, James Beard nominee restaurant, bars, brew pubs, Saturday farmers market, live music literally every which way you turn, one of the best knit shops I've ever been to, and same goes for the used bookstore! I'm not a professional travel agent, but I can steer you towards days of wonderment and nights of stars and fire.

Hookup Notes
There is an old-fashioned pump handle near the front of the driveway by the green gate. It is potable well water, coming from 500 feet down. The most excellent water.
