About
Saddle up at Kirkland Outpost — Kirkland’s Saloon & Steakhouse in Kirkland, Arizona.
This family-owned and operated Western destination is the kind of place Harvest Hosts members dream about: park the rig beside the rodeo arena, walk a few steps into a historic saloon, and spend the evening under Arizona stars with live music, cold drinks, and stories that have been told since the 1860s.
This isn’t a parking lot with a gift shop. It’s a true outpost: historic saloon, restaurant, mercantile, on-site hotel, and a brand-new rodeo arena & event center (opened January 2026). The walls go back to 1863 and were rebuilt in 1923 after a legendary fire. Guests hear tales of Virgil Earp, a hidden Wells Fargo vault turned private dining nook, and a few friendly ghosts who never quite checked out. Ask for a tour — the owners love sharing the history.
**What you’ll find here**
- Live music Friday and Saturday nights (classic country, red-dirt, and plenty of boot-stomping)
- Jackpot ropings, barrel races, concerts, car shows, food trucks, and community events at the arena
- Hearty sandwiches, loaded nachos, comfort favorites, and legendary Bloody Marys (watch for “train shots” when the train rolls by)
- Mercantile with Western gear and local finds
- Outdoor seating, pool tables, and that small-town welcome where regulars, ropers, and road-trippers end up singing the same chorus
**Why it works for Harvest Hosts**
Dry-camp right by the arena, then support the family business the way Harvest Hosts is meant to work: grab dinner and drinks in the saloon, pick up something from the mercantile, or make a weekend of an event. After the last song or the last run, you’re already home — no driving off into the dark. Nearby day trips include Skull Valley, Yarnell, Prescott, and Whiskey Row.
Come for the history, stay for the hospitality, and leave with dust on your boots and a story you’ll actually want to tell. Kirkland’s is family-owned and operated, and they treat guests like they’ve been expected. Welcome to the Arizona Outback.
