About
This location offers a serene rural setting situated on historic farmland, with four generously spaced gravel RV sites featuring level parking and available water and electric hookups. The property sits behind a distinctive vintage building—originally constructed as an internment camp structure in the 1940s—that now houses a full-service restaurant, bar, and convenience store, alongside a preserved creamery building dating to 1927. Guests consistently praise the peaceful atmosphere, well-maintained grounds, and friendly, responsive staff. The on-site restaurant and bar are standout features, serving home-cooked meals with a menu ranging from hearty breakfast burritos and biscuits with gravy to signature burgers, quesadillas, and steaks at reasonable prices. The establishment stocks a selection of draft beers and wines, and guests frequently highlight the quality and generosity of the food offerings. The general store provides basic supplies and snacks, making it convenient for travelers passing through or staying multiple nights. From November through March, this location becomes a premier destination for bald and golden eagle viewing. Approximately 100–200 eagles migrate to the area when northern rivers freeze, gathering in the famous Eagle Tree on the property and surrounding trees during evening roosting hours—a spectacular natural phenomenon that draws birdwatchers from across the region. Even visitors arriving outside eagle season often report sightings of these majestic birds. The setting provides an excellent base for exploring nearby attractions, including Box Canyon State Park with its hiking trails and swimming hole, Blue Heart crystal spring for kayaking, and 1000 Springs State Park—all within a few miles. The location is also approximately 10 minutes from Hagerman, known for hot springs, fishing, water access for kayaking, and the Hagerman Fossil Beds. Beautiful sunsets overlooking the canyon rim and peaceful evening sounds of the irrigation canal create a tranquil retreat away from busier interstate areas, while still maintaining convenient access to regional activities and dining.
