Welcome to Rusty Moose Garden & Gifts, one of northern lower Michigan's Lavender Farm. We have 4000 lavender plants that is in full bloom mid July. It is beautiful and yes, fragrant before full bloom- best times to enjoy are late June- late August. We have 7 different varieties of lavender- some for culinary uses and others for the fragrance and oil. Our farm is located about 17 miles south of the beautiful Traverse City. We have a wide open field of lavender to park in and perfect view of the dark night stars- possibly catch a glimpse of the northern lights! There is a 2 acre pond as well (not for swimming) a local watering hole for the wildlife. A great place for bird watchers! We open up our farm in May with hanging baskets, annuals, perennials, trees & shrubs. Our small store will open with our handmade products and local wares. We partner with local farmers as well for fresh produce through out the warm months. June will start with fresh Asparagus and go through October with the squashes, brussels, apples and more! In August we will begin our distillation of our lavender essential oil. That is a very interesting process to see.
