Green Island is an open-door 60-acre green space and school forest actually inside a small city in northcentral Minnesota. Remarkably, you can park totally private and hidden yet shopping and dining are only a 5-minute walk away. The camping area is completely hedge-screened and located around a pond with room for up to 4 small self-contained vehicles. There are no hookups or services. This is for self-reliant, off-grid minimalists. But, there are hand pumped water wells and a glass outhouse toilet available, as well as a small-scale solar charging station for portable power packs. You will be next to a small forest for walking and relaxation and may not be surprised to see deer or fox stroll by. Our location is a perfect prep stop for anyone on the way to Itasca State Park or the north woods of Minnesota hiking or canoeing. We value minimalist outdoor lovers who are very serious environmental stewards. If that is truly you then you can share in fruit harvests, wild medicinals, meditation, escape. The perfect earth-steward people could stay as long as wished. There is almost nothing to purchase here but you can certainly leave a donation or do a few small chores in return.
