About
We live just outside the historic city of Saint John, New Brunswick in a quiet residential area on a dead end street. Nothing fancy, but it is a safe and quiet area to park for a few nights. Our property overlooks Douglas Lake, unfortunately the trees behind our house have grown so much during recent years, there's not much of a view from the RV site. I'm hoping to get back there with the chainsaw one of the days and do some thinning so our guests can actually see the lake! You may hear occasional air traffic because we live close to the Saint John Airport. A few planes come and go during the day, but very few at night. Your grassy site measures about 75'×75' and your rig will be parked on a crushed rock pad. I'm not sure what the weight limit of the pad is...we've had dump trucks over there weighing 40,000+ pounds. We've provided a little patio area with table and chairs. Free firewood is available if you'd like to have a fire in the firepit. We also provide a can for garbage. Throughout your stay, feel free to toss any bags of garbage in the can. For those of you with furry kids, feel free to walk them around our property, but please pick up after them. We have an unofficial off-leash area across the street from our house. It is a partially constructed residential subdivision. The developers were forced by the city to stop the work because they failed to meet certain conditions. So now it's a large unused property where the neighbourhood dog-owners walk their dogs! We are RVers and we usually migrate south for winter, so our host location is only available from May until the end of November. We prefer at least 24 hours advanced notice, but same day is okay. Thanks for stopping by! Suggested Local Attractions: Saint John has a fascinating past, and Sheila and Rob being proud Saint Johners, we love to share stories about our humble little city! Saint John was actually the first incorporated city in Canada (founded in 1785), and as a result, led to a lot of 'firsts' for Canada: - the formation of Canada's first police department - Canada's first public school - Canada's first free public library - Saint John is also the home of Canada's oldest, and longest running, farmer's market! The market may be small compared to markets in other cities, but the historical significance is what makes it special. The Saint John City Market charter dates back to 1785. As you explore Saint John, you will learn about the fascinating beginnings of our city! Believe it or not, the origins of the city of Saint John was very closely linked to the origins of the United States! You'll learn about the early life in Saint John, You'll learn about the Great Fire of 1877 that destroyed most of the city, and you'll learn about the rebuilding after the fire! Witness the highest tides in the world at our Harbour where the water will rise 40 feet within hours. Also, no visit to Saint John is complete until you've seen the world famous Reversing Falls where the tides will cause swift rapids to actually stop then reverse directions. As well, keep the following landmarks in mind as you tour our quaint little city: - Fort Howe Blockhouse - Site of Fort LeTour - Historic Saint John City Market - Loyalist House - Market Slip Boardwalk - Old County Courthouse - Saint John Police Force Museum - Saint John Fire Department Museum

Proud Maritimers Details: We are Sheila and Rob, and we live in the 'Greatest Little City in the East' Saint John, New Brunswick with our dog, Daisy. We are recent retirees (from the IT world) but long time RVers. We travel with a 2003 37' Glendale Titanium fifth wheel and a 2002 Ford F250. On social media (YouTube, Instagram and Facebook), we're known as 'Maritimers Chasing The Sun'! Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCJ6dUpo1R0rknGEV6FN5EA Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/maritimerschasingthesun Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/maritimerschasingthesun/ We are snowbirds, so we do most of our traveling during the winter months. During the summer we usually stick close to home. We enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities - camping, hiking, cycling, running, swimming, kayaking, gardening... and the occasional running race or triathlon :-) Home Town: Saint John, NB Favorite Boondocking Locations: We're nature lovers, so quiet wooded locations are our favourite. So far, our favourite boondocking spots would be in the DeSoto National Forest (POW site and the Mountain Bike Trailhead) just to the north of Biloxi, MS Skills or Expertise to Share: Rob is a former software developer at our local phone company. Some knowledge in electrical and electronics. Rob is also a bit of a gear-head and has enjoyed tinkering with a variety of cars over the years. Sheila is a former team lead in the Network Management department of the local phone company. Customer Service and support are what she loved most. We both enjoy cooking, baking and puttering around in the yard.

Parking & Arrival
Access Road Conditions: We are approximately 12.5 kms, or about 7.5 miles, from the #1 highway. All paved roads to our place. Our house has a gravel driveway Tow Vehicle Parking Details: In front of or next to rig We can easily accept motorhomes up to 40'. We've had two different 39' class A motorhomes in the space with lots of room to spare. We could probably accommodate coaches over 42 feet, it would just take a little maneuvering :-) Our fifth wheel is 37' long and with our truck hooked up, we are about 50' overall so that would be about the limit we can handle.
Max Rig Size:
Up to 35 ft
