Cardinal Mountain is 28 wooded acres on a mountainside just outside Franklin, about 8 minutes from downtown in the Nantahala National Forest region. Our 16 sites are spread up the mountain from 2,330 to 2,630 feet, each named after a national park. Each site is private and wooded, and most have a large deck, fire ring and charcoal grill. Some of the higher sites have long views. Carman, our manager, lives on the property year-round, so there's someone here if you need anything. In the evening, everyone is welcome at Gleason, our shared campfire area. We have running water at every site and WiFi across the whole campground. Portable toilets are a very short walk from your site. There are no electric hookups, so come ready to run on your own power. Our roads are built for overlanders, trucks, campervans and RVs up to 20 ft, with a few sites that fit vehicles up to 25 ft. We don't allow trailers, though we may make an exception for a small teardrop trailer with an experienced driver, so ask before you book. If your rig fits, you'll have a quiet spot in the woods that bigger rigs can't get to. Check-in is 2pm, check-out 11am, quiet hours 11pm to sunrise.
