About
Blue Rock Boondock is situated on a gravel lane just across the Muskingum River from Ohio SR 60. The camping spot is adjacent to our pole barn lean-to, across the lane from our riverfront cottage. Enjoy a fire and use the lean-to for shelter and relaxation! We are in a rural area shared by both full and part-time residents who, like us, appreciate the quiet setting. Suggested Local Attractions: We are located along the historic Muskingum River Parkway featuring manually operated locks on the river. The Muskingum River Parkway and its 160-year-old navigation system were designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers in July 2001. The Muskingum River's 10 hand-operated locks are now recognized as one of America's great engineering accomplishments. https://www.stateparks.com/muskingum_river_parkway_in_ohio.html Blue Rock State Park and Forest is just a few miles up the river. The state park encompasses 322 acres that are surrounded by the 4,573 acres of Blue Rock State Forest. https://ohiodnr.gov/wps/portal/gov/odnr/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/blue-rock-state-park Visit Old Bridge Brewing Co. and find shopping with several dining spots in McConnelsville, about 12 miles down the river. Visit Zanesville's historic Y-Bridge and Artist Colony of Zanesville (http://www.artcoz.org/) about 15 miles upriver. Zanesville is home to the National Road Zane-Grey Museum, Zanesville Museum of Art, Weasel Boy Brewing Co, Y-Bridge Brewing Co, shopping, and many local dining spots including The Downtown Exchange on Main Street. Visit The Wilds in nearby Cumberland for a unique outdoor adventure experience. https://thewilds.columbuszoo.org/home/visit/plan-your-visit/directions

HOST
Cathy and I take advantage of the free time we have to enjoy retirement. We exercise and maintain an active schedule to keep us young, or so it seems. We set our own schedules now, so sometimes morning coffee can last for hours. Family visits and travel are number one as well as reading, relaxing and enjoying downtime. We love meeting people, being in nature, boating on the river, enjoying a campfire or motorcycle ride. I get my share of golf and enjoy motorcycling to feed my riding passion. There are plenty of scenic roads to carve up the curves in rural southeastern Ohio. Home Town: Our home is just outside of Columbus, Ohio. Cathy and I grew up in beautiful southeastern Ohio so we have a getaway there that keeps us busy and brings us closer to nature and fabulous motorcycling roads. Favorite Boondocking Locations: On the road while traveling we have done quite a few Cracker Barrel overnights but National Forests and National Shores are favorites. Of course any Harvest Host or Boondockers Welcome site is on our radar as we travel! Skills or Expertise to Share: Helping folks just takes a willingness to do so along with sharing a positive attitude. Motorcycling has been a lifelong passion. Always willing to offer advice on routes and riding styles. The adventure is in the trip as much as the destination.

Parking & Arrival
You will turn in off a county road just south of the Gaysport Bridge, which has re-opened after a lengthy reconstruction retaining the original stone pier supports. As you head down the gravel lane, find our pole barn on the RIGHT, across the lane from our riverfront cottage. Take the SECOND turn in allowing you to swing around the grassy oval, and back into the boondock spot adjacent to the barn lean to. Turning into the first one would be very tight and is guarded by a utility pole. Blue Rock Boondock is situated about half way down a dead end gravel lane. The road surface is dusty and shared by other full and part time residents so please keep speed to under 15 MPH. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: There is ample space to park your tow vehicle in front of the pole barn lean to or in the gravel turn around area. Please do not block the overhead doors.
