RV Camping in Ohio

4.9 Rating·27,452 Reviews

Ohio quietly holds one of America's oldest wine regions — Lake Erie's islands and shoreline were growing grapes before California got famous — and its RV credentials run just as deep, from Amish Country's farm lanes to Hocking Hills' sandstone gorges. Ohio has 353 Harvest Hosts locations offering overnight stays at vineyards, estate wineries, and farm markets statewide. Member-favorite stops include Rustic Vineyard Retreat, Small-Batch Estate Winery & Brewery, and Rustic Farm Market & Corn Maze Retreat — the state's three most-booked hosts. Members can choose from 74 farm stays, 53 wineries, and 33 breweries statewide.

Golf Course stay at Harvest Hosts Golf

John H

Two of my hobbies in one place. Playing golf and flying RC airplanes. I played golf and enjoyed the golf course but did bring a RC plane to fly. There were others there flying and enjoyed talking with them and watching them fly their planes. The camping area is nice and the trees provide shade in the evening. We had a fire ring and wood to build a fire. This host also puts you about an hours drive to Cuyahoga National Park. If you like golfing or RC flying, this is the place to go! If I am back this way I will be sure to bring my electric RC plane with me. Thanks for hosting us!

This was our favorite Harvest Hosts stay so far. From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel incredibly welcome. The kindness and hospitality really made this a special place. We also tried kayaking for the first time, and it honestly felt like therapy. It was so peaceful being out on the water, surrounded by nature, and seeing a bald eagle made the experience even more memorable. If you're looking for more than just an overnight stop, this is the kind of place you'll remember long after you leave. Highly recommended.

We stayed for one night while traveling. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I loved the adult slushie and the sangria was great. My husband enjoyed the beer selection as well. The pizza was delicious! Prices were great! We had our dog with us so we enjoyed the patio, the view, the vineyards, and the sunset. It was a wonderful place to stay. I encourage everyone to visit!!

So awesome to sit outside or inside the campervan and watch the two movies and then go to bed and wake up and go with a fresh start for the new day ahead. In Amish country and simply great. We will do it again next time in town. A footlong coney dog and Pepsi to go w it all!!

This is a great place to stay! We purchased fresh trout to cook for dinner and smoked salmon for later and enjoyed touring the impressive fish farm and beautiful grounds. What a cool enterprise! The farm closes at 6 pm, so we had quiet and privacy very early. The parking area for Harvest Host rigs was fairly level and there were hookups available if needed. Great stay!

Easy to find off the highway. After the restaurant closed, it was quiet with very little road noise. We saw a deer walking around the corn field. There were three other harvest host trailers there. The food was too dead for, so good!!!

Stop and pet a sturgeon, what an incredible experience if you haven't had the experience before. There is a wonderful gift shop with a nice selection of wine. The RV parking area is large and convenient. They have a dump station, water and electric hook-up. If you are into geocaching, there is one on site.

Ohio RV Camping Guide

Lake Erie Shores and Islands

Ohio's north coast strings vineyard stays from Vermilion to Ashtabula's covered-bridge county, with the Lake Erie Islands — Put-in-Bay's ferries, Kelleys Island's glacial grooves — a summer institution. The lake moderates the climate; the wine's been proving it for 150 years.

Amish Country

Holmes County holds the world's largest Amish community, and farm-market stays put you inside its rhythms — buggy traffic, cheese houses, bakeries worth rearranging a route for. Drive patiently and buy generously; both come naturally here.

Hocking Hills and the Southeast

Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, and Cedar Falls headline sandstone gorge country that doesn't look like anyone's idea of Ohio — autumn turns it spectacular. West Virginia's mountains continue the theme through the southeast.

Cincinnati and the Southwest

The Queen City's food-and-beer heritage anchors a corner of the state built for exploring, with Ohio River scenery and easy runs into Kentucky and Indiana.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to RV camp in Ohio?

May through October — summer for the lake and islands, September–October for harvest at farm hosts and color in the Hocking Hills. Corn-maze-and-cider season is when Ohio's farm stays are at their absolute best.

Is Lake Erie wine actually good?

Historically important and genuinely enjoyable — the lake-moderated climate has supported vineyards since the 1800s, and the shoreline tasting rooms pour everything from serious dry Rieslings to unabashed island-vacation sweets. Judge for yourself from a vineyard row at sunset over the water.

What should I know about driving in Amish Country?

Share the road with horse-drawn buggies: crest hills slowly, pass wide and gently, and skip the engine brake near farms. Sunday travel is heavier for buggies and quieter for shops — many close. The etiquette is simple respect, repaid in the best baked goods of your trip.

Is overnight RV parking legal in Ohio?

Rules vary by municipality, and metro and some tourist areas post against it. Harvest Hosts stays make it simple: an invited overnight on private property with the host's permission — a vineyard or a corn maze over a parking lot.

How does RV camping at Harvest Hosts work in Ohio?

Harvest Hosts is an annual membership that lets RVers stay overnight at 353 Ohio wineries, farms, breweries, and attractions with no camping fees. Members request stays through the app, arrive in a self-contained RV, and support their hosts with a purchase — a lakeshore bottle, estate-brewed flight, or a trunk full of farm-market favorites.

Is Harvest Hosts worth it for Ohio RV trips?

Yes — the $99/year Classic membership pays for itself in 2–3 nights versus private campgrounds at $35–55/night, and Ohio's crossroads interstates (I-70, I-71, I-75, I-80/90) mean members bank value on nearly every eastern trip.
