About
Nestled in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania at 2,000 feet elevation on Laurel Mountain, this stone farmhouse offers spectacular mountain and forest views alongside peaceful, quiet surroundings ideal for a restorative retreat. Built in 1931 as a charming French-style homestead, the property sits backed against 300 acres of hike-able woods and has been lovingly developed into a thriving permaculture operation. The level RV parking spot provides easy access to 50-amp electric hookups, making it a convenient stop for travelers exploring the region.
Guests are welcomed to browse and purchase an array of handcrafted goods made on-site, including baked goods, vegan cheeses, herbal teas and tisanes, bath salts, candles, and other artisanal products created from the property's gardens and forest. The cottage flower garden, berry patch, vegetable gardens, and mushroom cultivation on oak logs reflect the property's commitment to working closely with nature using pesticide-free permaculture practices. Visitors consistently praise the quality and variety of these offerings, from scones and desserts to herbs, sea salts, and fragrant candles.
The location provides excellent access to outdoor recreation and nearby attractions, with renowned hiking areas like Laurel Ridge State Park, Linn Run State Park, and Stackhouse Park just minutes away. The charming town of Ligonier—featuring shops, restaurants, and Fort Ligonier—is approximately 20 minutes away, while other regional destinations such as Buttermilk Falls and the Flight 93 Memorial National Park offer additional exploration opportunities.
Guests consistently highlight the warmth and helpfulness of the hosts, who take time to welcome visitors, share their story, offer product samples, and provide recommendations for exploring the area. The peaceful, beautiful setting combined with genuine hospitality creates an experience that encourages return visits and leaves guests feeling they've enjoyed time with friends.
