About
"Hey overlanders and road-trippers, if you're heading south toward Mexico or beyond on the Pan-Am route, stop by for a relaxing recharge and gentle rig check before the next leg. Welcome to Grapevine Springs Ranch, Our family-run cattle and exotic ranch in the rugged canyons of Real County, Texas, just north of Leakey on US Hwy 83. Established by my great-great-grandfather in the late 1870s, I still live here and steward the land today. This is the headwaters of the West prong of the Frio River, where crystal-clear Grapevine Springs flow year-round into a gurgling creek perfect for a refreshing dip or peaceful creekside relaxation. Surrounded by tall hills, ancient hardwoods (live oaks, Spanish oaks, black walnut), and abundant wildlife—deer, turkey, exotics, songbirds. You'll enjoy true seclusion, breathtaking sunrises/sunsets, and some of the darkest skies in Texas for epic stargazing. Two stay options: Top-site with hookups: Level spots with electric (30/50 amp) and water hookups for easier access—ideal for larger rigs or those wanting convenience. Main campsite experience: Down in the valley for a more immersive, primitive feel—fire ring, tables, BBQ pit, and direct creek proximity (outhouse nearby). Note: The ranch road has some uneven spots and clearance considerations (high-clearance recommended in wet weather), but it's well-traveled and suitable for many self-contained RVs. Ive had several Sprinter vans and a 28' Airstream make it back without issues. I do have some other roads that can put your rig to the test. Pack in/pack out, Leave No Trace. I'm a hands-on host happy to share local tips, ranch stories, and maybe a cold one by the fire. Great for quiet overnights, stargazers, vehicle testers, or anyone craving real nature immersion. Looking forward to meeting you! Bring cash for extras. Have a good one!
