About
As your RV sweeps off Interstate 81, you'll find yourself stepping back in time in the charming hamlet of Newbern, Virginia. Here, RV camping enthusiasts can relish a truly unique Virginia historical experience minutes away from their cozy campsite. Cradled in the heart of Newbern, this two-story heritage gem celebrates its past with grace. What was once two separate homes has been lovingly transformed into an inviting glimpse of yesteryear. Imagine the stories these walls could tell, having housed a vibrant tavern, a quaint general store, and Newbern's very first post office. Now, it stands as a testament to the rich tapestry of local history, inviting RV travelers to connect with the narratives that shaped the region. During your stay, venture beyond your RV for a day-trip steeped in the heritage of Newbern. The historical society has preserved this building with authenticity, offering visitors a rare chance to wander through the same rooms where the Hance-Alexander family once conducted their daily lives and business affairs. Engage with the past through a blend of personal tales and historical artifacts. The convenience of RV camping near such an intriguing historical site means you'll have the freedom to explore at your leisure. Spend a tranquil evening under the stars, pondering the centuries of history just a stone's throw from your resting place. Whether you're a history buff or simply appreciate the allure of bygone days, this historical stop is an enriching complement to your RV adventure.
