The property was first purchased in 1907 by the Smith family with what started as a 60-acre farm. Today, the farm remains in the same family but has grown to over 800 acres in size. T.S. Smith Farm is one of the oldest farms in the county and the oldest apple, peach, and nectarine farm in the area. 3. Layton’s Chance Vineyard and Winery - Vienna, MD

The Layton family began placing their agricultural roots in 1948, and, two generations later, the farm began the breakthrough process of becoming a winery. 4. Ocean Odyssey Crab House and Restaurant - Cambridge, MD

What better way to experience Maryland than by one of its staple foods: blue crabs. This local dive began as a crab-picking business in 1947. In 1946, the Todd family business evolved into a roadside deli and eventually a full-fledged restaurant. Today, they serve a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, seafood by the pound, and more. Visitors new to Maryland seafood should try the cream of crab soup as a scrumptious starter. 5. Hill Hounds Animal Rescue and Sanctuary - Greensboro, MD

Prepare to have your heartstrings tugged by this next Harvest Hosts location. Hill Hounds Animal Rescue and Sanctuary is a non-profit animal rescue for “less adoptable” pets (is there such a thing?). Some of their animals are disabled, less friendly, have health issues, or are elderly, which hurts their chances of being adopted out. 6. Cult Classic Brewing - Stevensville, MD

Get ready to visit one of the longest bars in Maryland! Brothers Jesse and Brooks have fifteen beers on tap, with everything from German-style lagers to IPAs and stouts, as well as pizza and pub-fare. They are located nearby Annapolis, Maryland, and often feature live msic at different times throughout the year. 7. Chateau Bu-De - Chesapeake City, MD

Couple Brenda and Warren Dedrick opened their winery mainly due to their love of fine wine and cheeses. They both take every aspect of the winemaking process very seriously, down to the weights, temperatures, and even the treatment of the grapes. They offer a variety of light fares and produce around fifteen varieties of wine. 8. Broken Spoke Vineyard and Winery - Earleville, MD

First opened in 2017, the Broken Spoke family has one motto: "Take a break; start a conversation." These very words encompass the Harvest Hosts camping mission as well. What better way to travel and unwind than by making new friends? They currently offer fourteen wines and one cider, with tasting tickets available for those who want to try their drinks. They are located on a thirty-acre farm, home to not only the vineyard and tasting room, but also to ponies, sheep, chickens, goats, pot belly pigs, donkeys and even a pair of peacocks. On Sundays they host an afternoon Farmer’s Market with various vendors and activities available. Broken Spoke Vineyard and Winery offers three reservable, pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size.

9. Midnight Oil Brewing Co - Newark, DE

Midnight Oil Brewing Co is located in an industrial park with ample parking and great beer. They take a modern approach to classic styles, and always have a vast variety of brews to suit every palate.  The brewery is open seven days per week and offers live music and events throughout the year, while priding themselves on being family and pet-friendly. They also produce a hard cider, and serve local wine, along with non-alcoholic options for everyone, including house-brewed Kombucha. 10. Maryland Beer Company - Elkton, MD

A small-batch craft brewery, Maryland Beer Company has at least sixteen beers on tap daily. They also serve a variety of cocktails and offer a variety of snack and appetizer fares. 11. Great Hope Golf Course - Westover, MD

In order to stay at this Harvest Hosts location, members must have the upgraded golf plan. First opened in 1996, Great Hope was designed by the world-renowned golf architect, Dr. Michael J. Hurdzan. The course boasts a challenging layout and is best for the avid golfer. They also have an on-site bar and restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and early dinner. 12. Blue Crab Bay Co. Gourmet Gifts - Melfa, VA

This unique Host location is a wonderful place to pick up gifts or souvenirs for loved ones. They sell a variety of seafood-inspired products and gourmet snacks in a private, wooded industrial park near stores & restaurants. Visitors can expect to find hard-to-find condiments, spice blends and seasonings, mugs, stoneware, mixers, local wines, and other coastal-inspired gifts. Many visitors to the northeast have never heard of the Delmarva Peninsula, but this area is not to be missed.
