Exploring the Southern Oregon Region

For many, Oregon is one of the most beautiful states in America. There, we can find gorgeous coastlines, dense forests, mountainous peaks, rolling countryside, bubbling rivers, and so much more. Planning travels to such a large and diverse state can be difficult, so it’s often easiest to divide the state into sections. In this state, Southern Oregon is an incredibly popular area with tons of fun things to see and do. It also happens to have quite a few Harvest Hosts locations. These locations include golf courses, wineries, museums, farms, and more. 1. Bandon Crossings Golf Course - Bandon, OR

Bandon, Oregon is well-known as one of the cutest and quietest towns along the Oregon coast. In Bandon, you can of course expect to see stunning ocean views, but you can also plan to enjoy amazing fresh and local seafood, plenty of shopping, and temperate weather year round. When you are done exploring the city and sampling the local fare, you can spend the night at Bandon Crossings Golf Course. This beautiful, eighteen-hole course is well-maintained and offers lovely grounds and excellent views. They offer a high season greens fee and a low season greens fee. Harvest Hosts members can stay overnight in one of four reservable, pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size. 2. Delfino Vineyards & Winery - Roseburg, OR

About an hour inland from the coast, you can find the town of Roseburg. While it is not technically considered wine country, there is a bustling wine scene in this area. While visiting the area, Harvest Hosts members should plan to pay a visit to Delfino Vineyards and Winery. This small, family-owned business is located on a gorgeous property, with plenty of opportunities for hiking and bird/wildlife viewing. There is also an on-site pond, along with a level pastured parking area for overnight guests. There are wildflowers in bloom in the spring and summer months, and the property truly showcases the best of Southern Oregon. The wines are often described as smooth and silky, so be sure to visit and grab a few bottles for the road! 3. Train Mountain Railroad - Chiloquin, OR

Moving a bit further east, we can find the town of Chiloquin about thirty minutes north of Klamath Falls. Just outside of the town, Trail Mountain Railroad is a must stop for Harvest Hosts members! This location features a museum with a gift shop and the world’s largest miniature railroad. Families with children will especially enjoy the small railroad and the playground. After close, members have the property to themselves. There are four total reservable spaces for any size RV, and one of these spaces offers electric. 4. Shield Crest Golf Course - Klamath Falls, OR

After spending some time at Train Mountain Railroad, guests may want to visit the nearby town of Klamath Falls. This area offers plenty to do for all lovers of the outdoors. The large Upper Klamath Lake offers endless possibilities for recreation, and there is also a nearby wildlife refuge. Within about an hour’s drive, town visitors can also access both Crater Lake National Park After enjoying a day outside, Shield Crest Golf Course offers an excellent place to spend the night. They are open year round and offer an excellent course, as well as a shop and a restaurant. Be sure to reserve this site in advance, as there is only one space available for any size RV. 5. Smith Family Farm - Grants Pass, OR

Smith Family Farm is a new Harvest Hosts location, but each guest has raved about their incredible experience here. The farm is located just outside of the town of Grants Pass, near the cities of Medford and Ashland. They always have farm-fresh eggs, and there are fresh fruits and vegetables available seasonally. The views are enjoyable, and there is one pet-friendly space available for RV’s of any size. 6. Devitt Winery and Vineyards - Jacksonville, OR

Devitt Winery and Vineyards has been a Harvest Hosts location for eight years. This beautiful property acts as a wildlife sanctuary, while also growing many types of grape varietals, including Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Merlot, Viognier, and Cabernet Sauvignon. All wine is prepared from fruit grown on the winery or nearby. The owners offer tours of the property, as well as tastings and bottle sales. 7. Lavender Fields Forever - Jacksonville, OR

After leaving Devitt Winery and Vineyards, you will want to stop by Lavender Fields Forever just a few miles away. This excellent host is a newer location, but they have a gorgeous property with lots to offer. There is a river running across from the gift shop and parking area, as well as blackberries for picking. In the summer they offer u-pick lavender, as well as a variety of lavender products made from their supply. They have WiFi available, and water and electricity for a small price.
