On our latest road trip, we stumbled upon a true hidden gem in Marion, Virginia: Park Place Drive-In. We are always on the lookout for unique experiences, especially those that offer a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. What made this one even better was that it was a Harvest Hosts location—perfect for a peaceful RV stay after an evening of fun. Whether you're a local or passing through, this drive-in offers an unforgettable movie night combined with classic entertainment options. Here’s why we absolutely loved it.
From the moment we arrived at Park Place Drive-In, we were impressed with how easy and convenient everything was. The host was incredibly welcoming and provided clear, written directions on how to park, ensuring there was no confusion. Parking is a breeze with plenty of room for cars and RVs alike. Being part of the Harvest Hosts network, meant we had no need to rush anywhere after the movie—just park, unwind, and enjoy the night.
While the main event is, of course, the movie, there’s so much more to enjoy before the show starts (or even if there’s no movie that night). Since we arrived well ahead of sunset, we had plenty of time to explore and check out all the great activities on offer.
Arcade Games: Who couldn’t resist spending some time in the arcade? It’s got a great selection of both classic and modern games. We played a few rounds of pinball and tried my hand at some video games—fun for all ages!
Ice Cream: After working up an appetite with a few arcade games, we shared a scoop of ice cream from the on-site stand. They’ve got a great selection of flavors. Whether you're in the mood for a sundae or a milkshake, it’s the perfect snack to enjoy before or after the movie.
Mini Golf: For some added outdoor fun, we decided to play a round of mini golf. The course is small but well-maintained, and it was a great way to stretch our legs and laugh like we were kids again before settling in for the evening. It's a perfect activity for families or just anyone looking to have a bit of fun before the show begins.
What we really loved about Park Place Drive-In was how relaxed and comfortable it felt. As an RV traveler, it’s always nice to have a place to settle in and unwind after a day of driving. At Park Place, we could park our rig right at the drive-in and enjoy the movie from the comfort of our own space. We opted to relax outside the RV, where I could enjoy the film with a cozy blanket and a snack, but could have easily stayed inside if the air was a little too chilly (or hot!). It was such a nice change of pace from the typical busy, crowded movie theaters.
As a Harvest Hosts member, it’s always nice to find a spot like Park Place Drive-In that offers not just a unique experience but also the opportunity to stay overnight. After a fun-filled evening, we simply relaxed in our RV and enjoyed the quiet night. The drive-in’s peaceful surroundings and relaxed atmosphere made it a perfect stop on our road trip. We even had a few of the local deer stroll by to clean up our popcorn spills! The Host gave us instructions on leaving at our leisure in the morning, so we didn’t feel rushed getting out of our site!
