About
This location offers a fascinating collection of over 185 unique and prototype snowmobiles alongside extensive memorabilia, housed in a museum that opened in 2007. Positioned conveniently on the north side of US-2 adjacent to snowmobile trail #2, the site provides easy highway access for travelers seeking an overnight stop in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Guests consistently praise the museum as engaging and educational, whether they're snowmobile enthusiasts or newcomers to the sport, often spending hours exploring the displays and learning about the rich history of winter recreation. The property features a large, level gravel parking lot behind the building that accommodates rigs of all sizes with ample room to maneuver and turn around. Multiple electrical hookup options are available, with 50-amp and 30-amp service provided for a nominal fee. The location behind the museum shields overnight guests from highway noise, creating a peaceful retreat while remaining just steps from the main road. Water fill-up service is also available for those who need it. The surrounding area provides convenient access to local dining and shopping within walking distance, including a pasty shop next door, smoked fish market, coffee spots, and restaurants across the street. The hosts are noted for their responsiveness, friendliness, and willingness to provide local information and recommendations. Nearby attractions include scenic lake access, trails for hiking and walking dogs, and the area serves as an excellent base for exploring regional waterfalls, springs, and state parks throughout the eastern Upper Peninsula.
