RV Camping in Missouri

4.9 Rating·14,433 Reviews

Missouri sits at the crossroads of American road trips — Route 66 starts its famous run in St. Louis, the Oregon Trail launched from Independence, and today's RVers still funnel through on I-70, I-44, and the Great River Road. Missouri has 210 Harvest Hosts locations offering overnight stays at lakeside wineries, veterans museums, and Ozark farms along all of it. Member-favorite stops include Lakeside Rustic Winery Retreat, Educational Veterans Museum Experience, and Veterans Memorial RV Park — the state's three most-booked hosts. Members can choose from 64 farm stays, 22 wineries, and 19 breweries statewide.

Our second time staying. A great overnight stay when traveling Chicago to Branson! Easy on and off the highway.

Attraction stay at Educational Veterans Museum Experience

Yes that’s my title because I have a story. This is a beautiful place to stay. From the grounds, museum and even the staff of the Museum. My wife and I come back every year on our way across the country. They provide 50/30 amp hookups (2) for RV’s and a nice level spot in the well lit parking lot. Every year we donate to the museum and I am more than grateful to do so. This year they heard part of my story. They have heard a lot I’m sure, but I got to tell mine, and they were more than happy too. Thank you all, we will be back again!!!!

Accommodating on a holiday weekend. Family was very friendly and let us crash their 4th of July party to camp by the lake. Very peaceful setting. Make sure you have 2 hands...1 to pet the alpaca, and 1 to pet the dogs. Highly recommend.

We had the best time here! Our host was so helpful and even opened up her store so we could purchase some farm grown meats. Can’t wait to try the steak in the grill! And oh the fresh blueberries were so yummy this morning! Highly recommend this place! Hope to return someday for longer than one night!

WOW! The whole experience was spot on! From the check in, to the site, to the meal, to sitting outside watching the birds and the lake. Everything was pristine. The pizza was very delicious. There was a man playing the guitar and singing who was outstanding. I can’t say enough praises to this harvest host. Thank you.

Missouri RV Camping Guide

St. Louis and Missouri Wine Country

America's first designated wine region sits an hour west of the Arch: Hermann and Augusta's German-heritage wineries line the Missouri River bluffs, with historic cellars like Cave Vineyard south along the Mississippi at Ste. Genevieve. Vineyard stays here are the state's signature host experience.

The Ozarks and Branson

Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock, and Branson's show circuit anchor southern Missouri's lake-and-hills country, where winery and farm stays trade neon for night skies just minutes from the action. Arkansas continues the Ozarks south.

Kansas City and the West

Barbecue pilgrimage territory — burnt ends alone justify the routing — with museum and farm stays serving I-70 and I-35 travelers toward Kansas. The National WWI Museum is a top-tier stop.

Route 66 Country

I-44 shadows the Mother Road from St. Louis through Springfield to Joplin, past the classic motels, drive-ins, and roadside giants that made it famous. Hosts along the corridor keep the old road's overnight spirit alive — with better parking.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to RV camp in Missouri?

April–June and September–October — spring dogwoods and full Ozark rivers on one end, harvest season in wine country and hillside color on the other. Summer is hot, humid, and lake-perfect; winter is mild enough that wineries and museums make an easy off-season circuit.

Is Missouri really wine country?

The original one — Hermann's German settlers built a nationally important industry here in the 1800s, and Augusta holds America's first federally designated wine appellation. Norton, the state grape, makes a bold red worth the detour on its own.

Is overnight RV parking legal in Missouri?

Rules vary by municipality, and lake-town and metro lots increasingly post against it. Harvest Hosts stays settle it: an invited overnight on private property with the host's permission.

How does RV camping at Harvest Hosts work in Missouri?

Harvest Hosts is an annual membership that lets RVers stay overnight at 210 Missouri wineries, farms, museums, and attractions with no camping fees. Members request stays through the app, arrive in a self-contained RV, and support their hosts with a purchase — a bottle of Norton, museum admission, or farm-stand peaches.

Can I use Harvest Hosts in Missouri during winter?

Largely yes — wineries, museums, and attraction hosts run year-round, and Missouri winters are moderate with occasional ice. Farm hosts may pause; check each host's page.

Is Harvest Hosts worth it for Missouri RV trips?

Yes — the $99/year Classic membership pays for itself in 2–3 nights, and Missouri's crossroads position means members recoup it on transit alone. A wine-country weekend makes it feel like stealing.
