We enjoyed our stay at Grasslands Oasis. The patio and pool were a great escape from the heat. Having access to power, water and dump was a great bonus. The cinnamon buns from the market were delicious too!

We were grateful for a shaded spot on a hot day. The hosts communication was excellent. We enjoyed a quiet night surprisingly close to the main road into town. Thank you for a safe place to stay.

Perfect overnight stop before an early BC Ferries sailing! We stayed here for one night and couldn’t have asked for a better location. The host was incredibly friendly and came out to welcome us when we arrived. There’s a lovely walking trail just steps away, making it a great place to stretch your legs after a day of driving. In the morning, we enjoyed coffee at the clubhouse restaurant before heading to the ferry terminal. It was a relaxing, convenient start to our travel day. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an easy overnight stop before catching the ferry.

What a lovely farm. The family is doing a great job improving and adding more amenities, but you won’t be disappointed with what they have now. It’s wonderful. Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay and amazing hospitality.

We loved our stay at the Jade store. We're taveling with another couple/vehicle. They were very accomodating and the parking area was large and level. We bought some jade, too!

This famous historic ranch is just that - historic! And you’ll be parked near their glamping area that includes a covered picnic table, bbq with propane and patio chairs for your use. The scenery is amazing and walking around to learn the history of the old ranch is a highlight. And the restaurant food smells divine and will pull you in for dinner.

Easy arrival, very beautiful place, little lights create a lovely ambiance in the evening! We saw birds of prey and a family of California quail. The tacos are delicious and the wine is very good!

British Columbia RV Camping Guide

The Okanagan and Interior Wine Country

Canada's premier wine valley runs lake-to-lake from Osoyoos to Vernon — genuine desert in the south, orchards everywhere, tasting rooms by the hundred — with the Similkameen's organic-farm corridor next door. Summer is peak everything; harvest lingers golden into October.

Vancouver Island and the Coast

Ferries deliver a slower island world of estate wineries, Tofino's surf beaches, and Victoria's garden charm. Island host stays reward multi-day visits — this is not day-trip geography, and that's the point.

Vancouver, Sea-to-Sky, and the Fraser Valley

The Sea-to-Sky Highway climbs from ocean to Whistler in ninety cinematic minutes, while Fraser Valley farm country feeds the city — and passing RVers — from the flats east of it.

The Kootenays and the Rockies

Hot-springs highways, lake ferries that are free, and mountain towns with serious bakeries fill BC's southeast, a region built for unhurried RV loops toward Alberta's parks.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to RV camp in British Columbia?

June through September province-wide, with the Okanagan stretching April to October. September may be BC's finest month — warm lakes, wine harvest, thinning crowds. Coastal winters are mild and wet; mountain passes are serious snow country.

How do BC Ferries work for RVs?

Smoothly and by the metre — fares scale with vehicle length, reservations are strongly recommended for Vancouver Island crossings in summer, and RVs board with oversize vehicles. Build the sailing into the day's plan; the Gulf Islands scenery en route is a destination itself.

What about wildfire season?

Late summer can bring smoke and, some years, regional closures — it's now part of BC trip planning. Check DriveBC and provincial fire updates in July–September, keep plans flexible, and know that conditions vary enormously by region and year.

What should US RVers know about crossing into BC?

Passports for all aboard, declare produce and alcohol, and review Canada's firearms rules well before the booth — they differ fundamentally from US carry norms. Personal-use RV propane is fine. Southbound, US customs applies the same care in reverse.

How does RV camping at Harvest Hosts work in British Columbia?

Harvest Hosts is an annual membership that lets RVers stay overnight at 1 BC wineries, farms, and markets with no camping fees. Members request stays through the app, arrive in a self-contained RV, and support their hosts with a purchase — an island estate bottle, orchard-fresh flats, or valley wine from vines that shouldn't grow this far north but do.

Is Harvest Hosts worth it for BC RV trips?

Yes — Okanagan and island campgrounds book out and price up all summer, so membership pays for itself in about two nights. On a Vancouver-to-Rockies loop, host stays turn the province's scale from logistics problem into itinerary.
