British Columbia compresses a continent's worth of geography into one province: the Okanagan's lake-to-lake wine valley running through genuine desert in the south, Vancouver Island's estate wineries and Tofino surf beaches beyond the ferries, and the Sea-to-Sky Highway climbing ocean to Whistler in ninety cinematic minutes. September may be the province's finest month — warm lakes, wine harvest, thinning crowds — and the Kootenays reward unhurried loops toward the Rockies.

The Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper may be the most scenic RV road on the continent, with glaciers off the shoulder and lakes in impossible blues. Park campgrounds book months ahead, so host stays outside the gates beat the reservation scramble — and Alberta's brewery lineup runs south along the Cowboy Trail from Calgary while the Drumheller badlands and Royal Tyrrell dinosaurs sit an easy loop east. Larches turn gold by late September.

Saskatchewan and Manitoba carry the Trans-Canada between the Rockies and the Great Lakes, and the reputation for monotony is unearned — Riding Mountain's escarpment, Qu'Appelle's coulee lakes, and grain-elevator towns with real bakeries break up the drive. Fuel and host stays are further apart here, so plan the day's end before you start it.

Ontario is bigger than Texas and France combined, and it plays three different trips: Niagara-on-the-Lake's tasting rooms and icewine country against the New York border, Muskoka and Georgian Bay's granite-and-pine cottage summer, and the Lake Superior circle tour's boreal north — the wilder half of that loop. Toronto rewards a well-planned RV visit with host stays outside the core and transit in.

Europe you can drive to: a 400-year-old walled city, a food culture that takes cheese and cider as seriously as France does, and the Eastern Townships' vineyard-and-orchard hills built for slow RV touring. Île d'Orléans loops berry wineries and roadside stands just upstream of Québec City; downstream, belugas summer within sight of shore at Tadoussac. Road signs are French-only, so learn arrêt and sortie before the wheels roll.

Nova Scotia is never more than 67 kilometres from the sea, and the Cabot Trail's 298 km highland loop is the country's most celebrated drive — October's color rivals New England's at a fraction of the traffic. The Annapolis Valley pours Tidal Bay behind the Fundy tides, while New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island frame the region and ferries carry on to Newfoundland.
